Golden Rain (precipitation of lead (II) iodide)

"Gold" like PbI2 crystals precipitate from a saturated solution in water. The solution is obtained dissolving PbI2 in hot water which will become saturated as the temperature goes down....

  1. The color and luster of PbI crystals are fascinating. But mind it – lead compounds are toxic. I would rather stay away from it.
